Little Flower’s religious education program is available to assist parents in the religious education of their children. Our parish program supplements and reinforces what is being taught and learned in your Catholic home.
“Parents must be acknowledged as the first and foremost educators of their children.
Their role as educators is so decisive that scarcely anything can compensate…”
~ On the Christian Family in the World, Pope John Paul II
Classes are held at Little Flower Catholic School on Tuesdays at 4:30-5:30 pm for Grades 1st through 8th. Registration for 2016-17 is now closed.
Regular attendance at class is essential and expected, however it does not take the place of regular Mass attendance and participation.
Students and their families should attend weekly Mass together.
First Communion (First Holy Communion) is one of the Sacraments of Initiation for our church. The celebration of the Eucharist is at the heart of the Church’s life.
We believe this event to be very important, as the Eucharist is one of the central focuses of our church. The ritual, sacramental action of thanksgiving to God which constitutes the principal Christian liturgical celebration of and communion in the paschal mystery of Christ.
Communion is most often first received by children around the age of seven or eight, when they have reached the age of reason and are capable of participating in the sacramental life of the church. First Communion is to be preceded by the sacraments of baptism. If a person has not been baptized as a baby or small child, they will usually be baptized shortly before their First Communion.
